Essential Extract Fan Testing for New Dwellings

Why Building Control Requires Extract Fan Flow Rate Testing

More and more Building Control Bodies (BCBs) are now requesting evidence of extract fan flow rate testing before signing off on new dwellings. As modern buildings are constructed to be more airtight, the need for adequate ventilation has increased to reduce stale air and airborne pollutants, which can otherwise lead to possible damp issues.
Approved Document F Compliance: Mandatory Mechanical Extract Fan Testing

Approved Document F requires all mechanical extraction fans in new dwellings to be flow tested to ensure they meet minimum standards for air exchange.
This mandatory testing includes:
-
Cooker hoods
-
Bathroom/cloakroom fans
-
Utility room fans
